Why I made this website

I have traveled through more than 50 countries and have seen again and again how easy it is to find bad advice about travel electricity. Many websites oversimplify the topic, copy each other or leave out important details that actually matter when you are standing in front of a wall socket abroad.

Because of that, I decided to build a better tool myself. My goal is to explain plug compatibility, voltage and frequency as clearly as possible, and to turn technical information into something travelers can actually use before a trip.

Who I am

I am an electrically skilled person, a long-term traveler and the person behind Backpacker Dude. My blog has reached millions of readers and has helped many travelers with practical travel information over the years.

This website is a natural extension of that work. I wanted to build a dedicated project focused specifically on travel adapters, power plugs, socket types, voltage and frequency.

How I test adapters

I do not want to recommend travel adapters based on marketing promises alone. When I recommend an adapter, I look at build quality, plug fit, stability in the socket, everyday usability and whether it feels safe and practical during real travel.

This website helps finance itself through affiliate links. Even so, I still believe it is often a good idea to support local businesses during your trip, so if you can buy a suitable and safe adapter locally, I would generally recommend doing that.
